Hot Summer Dress Trends
Dresses are popular with women all year round, but no season allows us to wear them in quite the same way as summer. Summer sees women wearing dresses as they are meant to be worn: a whole outfit in one piece that creates and defines our entire look. Whether that means glamorous evening gowns, elegant maxi dresses or cheeky cocktail dresses, summer is definitely the season to justify adding a new number (or ten!) to your wardrobe. For summer 2011, there are several styles of dress that are particularly popular. If seen sporting one of these trends, you are sure to look fashion-forward and fabulous!
First up, styles of dress that are popular this summer include halter necks and asymmetrical dresses. The length and cut of the dress varies, but halter neck lines are especially popular with maxi dresses. Asymmetry is a trend that has been developing for some time as fashion becomes bolder, so dresses with one sleeve or strap, or even with a panel cut out from one side, are hot wardrobe pieces at the moment. Secondly, hot colours this summer go from one extreme to the other – bright, bold colours are in, as are light shades of natural tones such as white, cream, and tan. Avoid black – not only does it make you look dark and dismal, it absorbs heat in the summer sun! Finally, prints are still big in the fashion world, especially floral and animal prints. Don’t go overboard – a one piece dress all in the same print is fine, but accessorise with something simple. Similarly, if you wear a printed top, don’t pair with printed bottoms. There is such a thing as too much of a good print!
